I've just spent two hours listening to The Man Comes Around and now feel the apocolypse is nigh.
Pretty brave you to put Raspberry Beret up there; I reckon Prince's lawyers will be on to you before the days is out.
PS. Great blog, by the way
I think the Darkness passes through "guilty pleasure "into straight forward perversion! Lists like this of what people actually listen to, almost make feel sorry for radio controllers trying to cater for all our mad tastes.
...and that's why I hardly ever listen to music radio any more!
Cheers, TP.
I only seem to listen when I'm in the car of a morning. Even then I have a stand-by casette compilation for when I get bored/annoyed or both.
As for Raspberry Beret I actually prefer the Hindu Love Gods version.
Ooh, thanks for reminding me about 'Back of my Hand', Clair. To iTunes....
It's telling, isn't it? You can have hundreds of cds on your shelves but in the end this is what it comes down to. I'm always a bit disturbed when I check my most played list. I try to convince myself that I have eclectic tastes but itunes tells a very different story.. Interesting too that you've got no repeat artists in there. I've got lots by the same people. You win the prize! Although The Darkness? You need to push that one out of the charts!
ISBW, check out The Jags version of Here Comes My Baby, originally by The Tremeloes, too. Officially rockin'.
Are You Gonna Be My Girl is carrying on that fine tradition of Australian barroom rock. Pity they appear to be heading to one-hit-wonderdom.
Out of the 3 25 lists this is my fave
CBS - 'You're Moving out' is the cherry on top and sits neatly along side
Alessi Brothers - Oh Lori
Maria Muldaur - Midnight at the Oasis
Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight
followed by
Pickety Witch - Same Old Feeling
Badfinger - No Matter What
I'll stop there, on one of my playlists.
Now those WERE songs. I've been to Clyde's in Washington DC whose Afternoon Delight menu was the inspiration for the song.Sod the White House, the Capitol and that, this was the best bit of the visit...
